Expensive tasteless let down
Delicious food at one of the oldest restaurants in Kyoto. We sat in one of the back rooms of the restaurant and were really charmed by the tiny garden spanning the middle portion of the building. The food was fantastic, though the menu was entirely in Japanese. This place might be a little daunting for non-Japanese speakers.
This was one of the greatest meals I've ever had in my entire life. A beautiful tartar, followed by fried chicken skin and a yogurt-like conclusion...unreal. This is the spot. Go to it if you're in Kyoto.
Duck and mackerel tataki were amazing. We were the only non Japanese people there.
Good experience, not touristy at all. The breaded chicken was really good as well as the pepper. To try if you are in Kyoto
A little intimidating for a westerner at first but the chefs were all helpful and food was great. Sake was very different to what I have had before but still very good. It seemed surprisingly expensive but maybe we ate more than we thought.
It was recommended by the host of our airbnb. Good atmosphere, Japanese style. Food was great, except the oden, a bit too light for me. The head chef was very professional. I would like to try some sashimi next time.
You can find better in this area...
Will not seat Western foreigners on a Friday night, even with open seats :(
2 protein dishes2 vege fishes2 alcoholic drinks 6,900¥No prices on anythingEnglish menuJapanese experience sitting with legs crossed on tatamiTasty, but is it worth it?
really good place,nice good,nice people.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Highly recommendable for people looking for a good izakaya.
I went there last year. It really is a Japanese Izagaya, the atmosphere the staff the food. I wouldnt say the price and the food match, but it was by no mean bad.Overall we had a good time there. The head chef was very friendly and helpful. The staffs dont speak English and there is no menu in English. So make sure to bring someone that know a bit of Japanese.
